Penguin Random House LLC Brand Marketing Associate, Licensed and Proprietary Brands, Random House Children's Books (Remote) in New York, New York

Random House Children’s Books, a division of Penguin Random House, seeks a hands-on and detail-oriented Marketing Associate who will be an essential member of the Licensed and Proprietary Brands team. This position offers a unique perspective on the strategy and operations of Random House Children’s Books, home to beloved, classic children’s book authors and brands like Dr. Seuss, Magic Tree House, and Little Golden Books, as well as current licenses like Disney, Marvel, and Nickelodeon. Creating books for toddlers through young adult readers, the imprints of Random House Children’s Books bring together award-winning authors and illustrators, world-famous franchise characters, and multimillion-copy series.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Marketing Associate will coordinate and implement creative frontlist and backlist marketing campaigns for Dr. Seuss and other in-house brands, and work closely with third party partners and within our internal departments at Random House Children’s Books and Penguin Random House. The role is ideal for someone who has an interest in working in brand marketing and is a solutions-focused creative thinker with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time in a deadline-driven environment.

The Role:

• Coordinate and implement creative frontlist and backlist marketing campaigns for Dr. Seuss and other in-house brands to reach booksellers and parents of young readers

• Work closely with other departments including School & Library Marketing, Publicity, Sales, Publishing, and Editorial to ensure cohesive marketing campaigns and messaging across all channels

• Collaborate closely with the Audience Engagement team to develop and execute the digital strategy and content for Dr. Seuss and other in-house brands

• Responsible for writing marketing copy including bookseller and consumer facing marketing materials, ad copy and creative briefs, newsletters, and relevant digital content needs

• Responsible for routing all project approvals to the appropriate internal and external approvers

• Actively participate and lead weekly meetings relative to assigned projects

• Develop and maintain an understanding of the various in-house tools and resources to measure and track campaign results and stay on top of consumer and market trends

• Assists with the management and organization of retail merchandising offers from sell-in through on-sale for Dr. Seuss and other in-house brands

• Coordinate campaign recaps, business reviews, and internal marketing presentations as needed

• Work closely with the Assistant Director to manage the annual budget

• Administrative support as needed for the Assistant Director and Brand Marketing Team

The Essentials:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of marketing experience

• Genuine interest in working with children’s books and brand marketing, especially Dr. Seuss

• Creative individual, eager to share ideas, and actively participate in large group settings

• Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and problem-solve

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow-up in a timely manner

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

• Comfortable giving presentations and leading meetings

• A team player with the ability to build internal & external relationships

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Canva (a plus!)

The salary for this position is $53,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results. Penguin Random House job postings include a good faith compensation range for each open position. The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
